Job Description:
Position Summary
The Senior Project Accountant partners closely with Project Managers on all aspects of project accounting and administration. This role plays a critical part in monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the financial performance of projects to ensure accuracy, compliance, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Project Billing & Pay Applications
- Prepare and process monthly owner requisitions in accordance with contract terms and billing schedules
- Develop, maintain, and update the project Schedule of Values (SOV)
- Review, process, and track subcontractor requisitions
- Process and manage change orders in Clear Story, ensuring alignment with approved scope and budget
- Accounts Payable & Disbursements
- Review and process vendor invoices and subcontractor requisitions
- Select and verify invoices for inclusion in the weekly disbursement cycle
- Process labor and accounts payable job cost transfers
- Support vendor and subcontractor buyout from a financial and contract compliance perspective
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Reporting
- Process and maintain project budget updates
- Assist Project Management with monthly project forecasts, including validation of projected fees and percent complete
- Monitor project cash position and complete monthly cash position analysis
- Prepare project cash flow forecasts to support financial planning and decision-making
- Contract Compliance & Controls
- Manage compliance with contractual terms and conditions, including certificates of insurance, bonds, lien waivers, and billing procedures
- Ensure billing, change order, and payment processes comply with contract requirements and internal controls
- Project Financial Support & Collaboration
- Partner closely with Project Managers to provide ongoing project financial support and guidance
- Track, analyze, and report on project financial performance throughout the project lifecycle
- Support Project Management in resolving financial issues related to scope changes, cash flow, and cost controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other relevant field.
- 3-5 years of related experience.
- Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and construction management software.
- Detail oriented and able to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
